College History

Illinois School of Health Careers has been preparing students for employment in the allied health field for more than two decades. The school offers three distinct diploma programs designed to educate and provide experience in dental assisting, medical assisting patient care. Given the competitive nature of today’s economy, the Illinois School of Health Careers is dedicated to academic and field preparation of their students, but also to ensuring they know how to search for jobs and interview following completion. Graduates of the diploma programs may decide to immediately enter the employment force or continue to further their education in healthcare.

Illinois School of Health Careers features two locations in close proximity to reputable patient facilities and public transportation options. Both featuring more than 20,000 square feet of classrooms and laboratories, the Loop Campus is located in vibrant, downtown Chicago and the Cumberland Campus is near O’Hare Airport. Applicants to any of the programs available at the Illinois School of Health Careers must present documents proving completion of high school, a minimum age of 17 years, general health overview, and for certain programs, immunizations or background checks may be performed. Financial aid is available in the form of federal and private grants or loans for admitted students and these need-based plans are customized to the individual financial situation of each student. Classes are held on-campus and programs combine academic coursework with clinical rotations to provide students with essential field experiences in their chosen course of study and practice techniques learned in the laboratory. Dental and medical assisting are focused on specific future employment endeavors while the patient care technician option provides a variety of potential training situations.
