College History

Founded in 1991 in Charles Town, West Virginia, American Public University is an online university that offers a variety of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degree programs. This school also functions with American Military University and has over 100,000 enrolled students.

Because it is a virtual university, its students live across the globe. When people enroll, they have the option to pursue a range of degrees, including nursing, mathematics, elementary, and business. Most of these degrees take four years to complete, although some students may be able to finish their studies in less time. Likewise, professional degrees in public administration, business, homeland security, history, and other areas of interests allow people to expand their careers.

The university has accreditation from several notable factions, including the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and the Distance Education and Training Council. The accreditation allows students to earn recognized degrees that carry merit with future employers.

Semesters for this school last around 5 to 6 months. Many students who are enrolled full-time take at least four classes per semester. They are allowed to work at their own paces during the semester, allowing that they have their work completed before the end of the term. Their professors communicate with them via email or phone calls. Classroom participation often takes place through a virtual blackboard, with students posting discussions and discussing topics with fellow classmates.
